19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four early chances in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
